Atlassian Creators

Happy Wednesday, Jira Guys and Gals! Yes, it’s been a few weeks. I’ve been dealing with….stuff. But I’m excited about what I have coming up for you the next few weeks! For one thing, I know have access to Whiteboards for Confluence, so I’ll be digging into that to get you the features and information on that. I’m also preparing another App review from RenWare, so that should be available soon, too

But this week I have a fantastic article. Most of you may have seen where I’ve used the #AtlassianCreator hashtag on social media. This is no accident – at the start of this year, Atlassian started a pilot program within the Community Leader to help develop, enable, and support those of us who create Atlassian-based content. Honestly, it’s been amazing seeing Atlassian starting to nurture and support its Content Creator community. So far I’ve gotten a lot of help on how to work my social media strategy, ideas for posts and content that has been helpful when my own brain wasn’t cooperating, and a place where I can collaborate with other creators. There are around 25 of us in the program right now, so I thought I’d take today and feature a handful of them for you to follow!

  • I would say, learn from your failures and never get disappointed; remember that failure is a stepping stone to success, and despite failing even once, don’t lose heart. Always help others, you will learn something new while helping them, that’s my way of doing things and learning.

One thing I love about the Atlassian Creator project is that I’ve been able to meet people who are creating content from different backgrounds to me. To be honest, I don’t think ordinarily my path would have crossed Ammar’s under normal circumstances. But when I put this call out to the other creators, Ammar was literally the first to respond – literally within minutes of me making the post.

Kristján Mathiesen – Hafnarfjörður, Iceland

  • “Did you know…” :slightly_smiling_face:  A great solution consists of process, technology, and people. You have to work on all three.

Kristján is one creator I’ve started following myself as a result of the Atlassian Creator program. His content usually has a wonderful vaporware theming to it, making it recognizable whether he’s posting his normal content on LinkedIn or continuing his countdown to Team ’24 on the Community Leader Slack workspace. As I stated, Kristján was a creator I discovered through the Atlassian Creator Program and is one I personally follow.

Jimmy Seddon – JimmyTalksJira – Guelph, Ontario, Canada

  • If you haven’t checked out the Online Community you really should!  There are a tons of wonderful people there to share opinions, experiences and solutions!

Jimmy is a content creator I featured for my Atlassian Youtube Channel post a year and some change ago, and is one I still work together with whenever the opportunity presents itself. Yes, we have plans. He recently did a video where he reads the new children’s book written about being a Jira Admin, which was both brilliant and endearing. When he’s not working Atlassian tools or Content, he is, in fact, raising funds for ExtraLife, a gaming-based charity, so definitely check out his Twitch Channel for how to support his efforts there.

Brittany Joiner – Baton Rouge, LA, United States

  • “Wherever you are, be all there”

Brittany is one of those people that I dare you to be depressed around. She just exudes such energy and happiness that it’s always a fun time whenever she jumps onto a call or you run into her in person. I actually got to meet her (as well as Jimmy and so many others) for the first time in person at Team ’23, but we’ve talked online and worked together so much that it very much didn’t feel like that. As for her content, whether she is doing ridiculous live streams or just normal videos, she is the goto source for Trello and PixieBrix content.

Manon Soubies-Camy – Lyon, France

  • Don’t box Jira into just tech roles! It’s a game-changer for all teams. Take it from me, a marketer: we run all our campaigns using Jira, and it’s been a lifesaver.

Manon is another creator whose content I’d have likely missed if not for the Atlassian Creator program. She is mostly making content for LinkedIn, but is also known for her monthly French newsletter for her company – that she might be expanding to English.

So, what do you think?

Are you following any #AtlassianCreators I didn’t cover? Share them in a comment! I’m sure they’d love the shoutout, and it gives me a chance to reach out for another one of these posts!

Don’t forget you can find my links on my Linktree! Please be sure to follow, like, comment, and share the posts; it does help out!

In speaking of helping out, have you been listening to the Jira Life? This new podcast from Alex and me record live on Youtube every Thursday at 5 PM eastern/2 PM Pacific. We invite you to join the other lifers and talk with us as we talk about all things Atlassian. Can’t catch us live? You can watch past broadcasts on YouTube or catch the podcast wherever you get yours.

But until next time, my name is Rodney, asking, “Have you updated your Jira issues today?”
